Shut Out

BYU vs. UCLA
Brad and I got season tickets with his brother Nate and his wife, Kate. We have awesome seats! We are on the 4th row, on the east sideline, right next to the endzone.
We were right there to see all the touchdowns. It was so fun. I have never been so excited at a football game. Brad lost his voice.
BYU looked so good out there. 8 touchdowns- it kept the fans cheering. This picture shows how close we were to the action!
At the end of the game, President Samuelson came out to congratulate the players.

59-0
We killed them. Someone in church today said that the last time UCLA was beaten this badly was in 1929. I am glad we got to do the honors. What a great game- it was fun to be there!

A Small Business

I am taking a business class this semester entitled "Basic Entrepreneur Skills." In this class, we are going to learn the basics about starting a business. Our grade in the class depends on the "Launch and Learn" experience that will take place throughout the entire semester. Basically, we are assigned to groups of five students and we have to start a business of some kind. We have to get a business license, open a bank account, put up some of our own money up front, etc. Anyway, we have to earn AT LEAST $1,500 in profits.
We can do pretty much anything as long as it is legal. We have to come up with an idea by the 16th of November. I have never been too creative, but my mind has been racing constantly. I am hoping that someone will have a great idea. Keep in mind that we are in Provo, going to BYU so whatever we are selling has to be marketable to poor college students, or businesses around the area. The only idea I have come up with is buying roses at Costco and then selling them singly on campus in the quad. But I know I can definitely come up with something better than that.
So, I appreciate any feedback!!!

Unemployed

Does anyone else HATE looking for a job? It's hard to find something I would enjoy doing for the limited time slots I have available while I am going to school full-time. I do have a TA job for 6 hours a week, but I am looking for a few more hours a week. There are no jobs with that small of a time commitment. Any suggestions anyone?

Goodbye California!

So, I went home to Merced for the last time this summer. It has been so fun to be so close to home for a few months. I will definitely miss our pool and hot tub. They have gotten a lot of use by us. So these last few weeks have been pretty good. I got a root canal- it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I made a cookbook of all the recipes I have actually used more than once. I hung out with the Spencers. I have been watching the Olympics! I have been hanging out with Brad and watching the 4th season of Lost. This past weekend, Cami and Tim came down to Merced. It was really fun to swim, play games, and watch the Olympics with them. Then we went to Marilyn and Tyler's for dinner on Sunday- Brad can't stop talking about their awesome sound system on their TV.
So now it is packing and cleaning time. Brad is going to stay until Labor Day and keep earning money. I am heading back to Utah on Thursday to babysit the Maglebys for the weekend. Then I am off to Provo to take my mid-term and final for my online class, clean the house, grocery shop, find a job, hang out and help the Taylors, and get a crown and a few cavities filled. And poor Brad will be doing this horrible job all by himself. It will be a bummer to be away from each other for a week and a half- but it will all be worth it.
I will miss CA- especially in the winter. Goodbye Merced.

Oh, and we just realized that Brad has to turn in his applications and his top two cities to the BIG FOUR Firms by September 6th. Any suggestions for great big cities???

A Talent

Well, I am going to brag about Brad. He is awesome. One of his many talents is putting together slideshows. He is really good at it and has taught me the basics. It is so fun! Anyway, he spent quite a bit of time on this Callister Cousin Intramural Soccer Championship Highlight Video for our big Callister Reunion a few weeks ago. It was a hit. Here is the link. I give it 5 stars!!!!!
